I can barely contain my excitement for Kaitlyn & Sean! I have known Katie since I was 17. I will not say how many years that has been because that would just make me feel totally old but let’s just agree that it has been awhile. I met Katie when she was a mere 7 or 8 years old at my very first job and over the years got to know her family very well. So when she and hubby Sean connected with me to photograph them as they awaited the arrival of their first baby I was of course over the moon with excitement. Katie looks phenomenal for being due in just two weeks and both are super excited to meet their new baby. I cannot wait to meet the little one in just a few short weeks!

Our sweet little Cameron entered the world on March 26th after a challenging pregnancy. I had to go on bed rest at 29 weeks pregnant which forced me to cancel numerous sessions as well as a wedding booking! Ack. I am forever grateful to all of my amazing clients for being so understanding and sending so many good wishes our way. I basically spent the remaining weeks of my pregnancy shuffled between my home and my parents place so they could help me with our 3 yr old daughter while my hubby was at work. Not how I planned to spend my final weeks as a mother of one, but made the best of the situation and knew that in the grande scheme of life, this was just a teeny part of it. Then came the day to have our baby boy. So much excitement and anticipation. Due to the complications that landed me on bed rest in the first place I had to have a planned c section. Our Cameron was finally born after I had been under for over two hours, so the effects of the anesthetic on his little body were a lot to handle for him. He was rushed to the NICU where he remained for 6 very long and worrisome days. I didn’t even have the chance to hold him until he was over 24 hours old. We knew everything would be fine in the end, but the waiting and the fear of the unknown was overwhelming at times. Cameron was finally given a clean bill of health on the 6th day and we couldn’t have been happier to finally have our fighter baby home and safe in our arms. His big sister was so excited to finally meet him as was the rest of our families. Thank you again to everyone for their love and support during all of this. We are happy to report that Cameron is now doing as well as any new baby; eating constantly, pooping and sleeping. And is already over 9lbs!!

Thank you to EVERYONE for their support and love through this adventure. It’s been a challenge at times but will be so worth it when our newest member arrives.

Fast forward to around 10 wks ago when we had our 18 wk scan. They discovered I had placenta previa (which means my placenta is completely covering my cervix) as well as a potential placenta acretta (which means that my placenta may be embedding into my uterine wall – totally not good). I was being watched closely by multiple doctors but ultimately doing fine.

Fast forward to last weekend, I ended up in the hospital in Richmond and was transferred via ambulance to Royal Columbian within a few hours. If I did in fact have an acretta I was told to get comfortable, as I would be here till the baby was born as they have an excellent nic u that is able to take babies under 32 wks. I am currently 29 weeks along. We were visited by the neonatologist who talked to us about having a preemie and to prepare us just in case. After multiple ultrasounds and an MRI they determined I do not have an acretta (yay) but I may have a weak spot on my uterine wall so again was told to stay put and then another ultrasound determined things might not be as dire as they thought. Thankfully. Needless to say it has been a roller coaster of emotions this past week. So as of now, I sit on bed rest in my hospital bed waiting for the OBs to study my case and determine if I can go home on bed rest or need to remain in hospital. I’m remaining optimistic but also being realistic and will do whatever is necessary to bring this baby boy into the world safely.

Best case scenario is that I go home on bed rest, see my collection of doctors regularly and baby is born healthy at around 36 wks. I figure I’ll worry about other scenarios if they happen but refuse to dwell on the what-ifs too much.

I’ve obviously had to cancel all of the sessions and bookings I had planned and now cannot take on anything new until the summer. Laying in bed when you are normally a busy person has posed its challenges, but I am so thankful for my amazing clients and how understanding everyone has been. The amount of support our whole family has received so far has been overwhelming and makes this unplanned part of the adventure a little less scary.

I will keep everyone posted on our situation as new information becomes available but I just thought this post would be a good idea as so many people have been asking and wondering what is next.

I am looking for an assistant/second shooter* for all upcoming events (weddings). Duties include assisting me with carrying and organizing camera bag, tracking data and having a good time. Owning your own camera gear is essential for second shooting and you must have a general knowledge of your camera.

Must have stylish, semi-formal attire appropriate for weddings and MUST be available on weekends. Also, someone who is eager, fun to be around, outgoing, loves photography and weddings, fashion/beauty/style, reliable and NEVER late. Also, attentive to detail, easy to contact (cell, text & email), mature, non-smoker and good communicator.
